Idling in Oklahoma Oklahoma has a unique landscape with many parks, protected regions, forests, and a network of wildlife preserves and conservation areas. Oklahoma City and Tulsa are home to nearly 60 percent of Oklahomans living in their metropolitan statistical areas. A major producer of natural gas, oil and food, Oklahoma relies on an economic base of aviation and energy. It has one of the fastest growing economies in the nation.

While the state ranked fifth for installed wind energy capacity, it is at the bottom of states in usage of renewable energy, with 96% of its electricity being generated by non-renewable sources, including a big amount from coal and natural gas. Luckily, idling is not as serious an issue as it is in some other states, but it is still important that strides are made in its reduction.

The state of Oklahoma has a number of vehicles in operation throughout the state. Below is a summary of the data regarding idling length and costs.
