There are some initiatives that are specific to one state, a region of states, or the whole nation. Approximately 20 states in the US have some level of commercial or passenger vehicle anti-idling regulations. Little is being done to enforce these laws and many loop holes exist. Some US cities have established enforcement agencies to address idling and air quality, but these are far too few.
